Problems with Bells

I just jumped on the Syrinscape bandwagon today and I've liked what I've heard so far. But I have found something funky with Bells.

After I downloaded Bells and installed it, I was given 2 options in Load Slate. One was "Bells" and the other is "Bells - tight".

When I attempt to load "Bells - tight" it instead loads "Bells". No big deal.

Yet when I attempt to "Start All," this comes up:

"Starting All effects.
NOTE: Each effect will be silent for the first playback!

Fading Up Loop1...............................

WARNING CANNOT PLAY!!! - NO "loop2*.*" AUDIO FILE PRESENT in Current Directory!"

It still plays regardless. Dunno if this is a bug or not, but I thought I would let you know.

No loop2 is no problem.

Hi Nebten,

Glad you like the program, and thanks for taking the time to post.

The bells set contains no second loop sound (that is no file called loop2*.ogg). There is only one continuous noise in this sound set - the drone note.

So if you try to start the loop2 channel, syrinscape will rightly tell you it cannot start loop2 (since there isn't one), and since hitting the START ALL button starts all the channels, when you hit it you will get this 'error'.

Does that make sense?!?!?

:-)

As for the "Bells" and "Bells - tight" issue... if you read the second tutorial at:
http://syrinscape.com/tut2
...this should make sense to you.

Basically "Bells" is a set of settings of the Bells soundset that is sparse... and "Bells - tight" is a set of settings that is more busy and dense (that is, the gap slider settings are smaller).

Ah.. not really thinking clearly enough today... Sunday brain...!

Hope I have helped anyway,

Benjamin
